Walker School is a private, special education, extended-year school serving students of all genders in grades K-8 with complex presentations often manifested by behavioral, social, and emotional challenges. Our classroom environments are designed to help students whose educational needs have not been met in previous settings. Our program is competence-based, with a focus on developing skills for safety and stabilization, academic and social success, and long-range resiliency in the least restrictive environment possible.Walker partners with families to ensure that the family voice is incorporated into the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of all program services. This is accomplished through transparent, respectful interactions which integrate family preference, culture, strengths and needs and which are rooted in a framework of shared responsibility and decision making. Through partnership with families, Walker strives to ensure positive educational, behavioral, and social outcomes for every child and family served and to continuously improve our services.
