The Hillcrest Academy, a therapeutic day school, provides highly structured educational and therapeutic programming to students. Programming is designed to reduce school-interfering behaviors by teaching students self-regulatory skills; increasing their self-esteem, functional communication and social competence. Based on a PBIS system, our program provides support and motivation for students through a strength based, collaborative approach. Hillcrest Academy currently includes six psycho-educational classes specifically designed for students with emotional impairments. Students learn appropriate social and behavioral skills needed to function in less restrictive settings. Hillcrest Academy also serves students with Autism in our Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) classrooms that provide a structured, individualized learning environment with a staff ratio of 1:1. Students typically come to us with significant maladaptive/unsafe behaviors that cannot be managed in a public school setting.
