The Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Program at Hillcrest Center provides comprehensive, highly specialized, residential treatment services for youth. Built around research-based ABA services, our program focuses on a person-centered, humanistic approach to youth who may be non-verbal or diagnosed with more severe forms of Autism. The ASD program provides both assessment and treatment for challenging behaviors whose function is not readily identified and also pose significant risk to the child and teachers/caregivers. Behaviors may include but are not limited to aggression, self-injurious or self-abusive responses, environmental destruction and poor toileting skills. Our focus is on socially significant behaviors such as acquiring news skills and decreasing challenging maladaptive behaviors. The purpose of these behavioral changes is to help youth and families gain skills, supports, and resources for sustaining and restoring lifelong connections.
