A historic country mansion provides the setting for the Swansea Wood School, a co-ed 36 bed Chapter 766-approved residential school for special needs adolescents with cognitive impairment. Multidisciplinary treatment and education services include: year round academic and pre-vocational instruction; behaviorally oriented, therapeutic interventions; individual, family and group counseling; vocational training; recreational and community activities; 24-hour supervision and support to facilitate optimal learning and living skills-development toward independence. We utilize the ARC framework and strengths based individual treatment approaches to help our students learn necessary coping strategies that will prepare them for their future. We offer a rich vocational program to provide students opportunities to practice their skills in the community with our support. On-site gymnasium/recreational facility, cooking, gardening, music, art and adjacent outdoor pool. Job coaching relationships with local vendors provide safe rewarding work experiences for eligible students.
