Devereux's CARES School provides evidence-based primary, elementary and secondary education for children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental needs. The goal is to teach functional and pro-social skills that can be generalized to home and community. CARES uses Applied Behavior Analysis and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports to help students overcome challenging behaviors and achieve success in: Communication, Recreation, Social skills, Community inclusion, Academic skills, Self-determination, Self-care routines, Potential employment. CARES is a comprehensive learning environment addressing each student’s strengths and abilities. The team of professionals includes: BCBA; psychologists; clinical coordinators; nurses; speech, language, physical and occupational therapists, and vocational coordinator. Family/caregiver involvement is essential. Frequent, informal communication ensures services are meeting student and family goals.
