Founded in 1817, ASD was the first permanent school for the deaf in the US and is a nationally renowned leader in providing comprehensive educational programs and services for deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing non-verbal students with Autism. ASD embraces an ASL/English Bilingual approach to provide a dual language foundation. The CORE program provides small classes designed to meet the needs of each student with specialized instruction in a linguistically accessible environment-8:1:1 ratio. Our PACES program is a comprehensive residential treatment program for students 6 to 22 years-6:1:1 ratio. PACES is a strength-based program addressing the unique needs of deaf/hard of hearing children with significant emotional/behavioral challenges. Our Autism program is uniquely positioned to meet the needs of deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing non-verbal students with Autism. All programs are approved by the CT State Department of Education, New England Association of Schools/Colleges, Council on Accreditation, and Conference of Educational Administrators of Schools/Programs for the Deaf.
