The Boston Higashi School uses the philosophy of Daily Life Therapy® developed by the late Dr. Kiyo Kitahara of Tokyo, Japan, for educating children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. The foundation of DLT consists of three principles: vigorous physical exercise, emotional stability, and intellectual stimulation. The Day Program blends curricular areas of communication, social education, academics, the visual arts, music, physical education, technology and employment education encompassing content areas from the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks. Curriculum. The Residential Program provides a structured 24-hour educational environment designed to teach important life skills while promoting while promoting generalization across settings and within a home-like setting. The Clinical Team offers programmatic services to meet individualized needs on a consultative collaborative model utilizing licensed specialists in the areas of speech and language pathology, clinical psychology, occupational and physical therapy. Medical services are provided on-site through 24-hour nursing.
