League School of Greater Boston
The League School of Greater Boston, named “Best Special Needs High School” for 2019 by Boston Parents Paper, is a year-round program dedicated to the education of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Our team approach to education creates a collaborative, supportive and open environment within our community. We are currently seeking a PROGRAM COORDINATOR for the Pathfinders Program to start immediately. This position heads a team of Head Teachers, Clinicians, Occupational Therapists, Speech/Language Pathologists, and Board Certified Behavior Analysts to achieve the desired results for the program.
The Pathfinders Program serves students diagnosed with Autism and related disabilities at the elementary, middle and high school level (ages 6 to 22) who are typically working toward a high school diploma. The Pathfinder Program also serves post high school students with transition programming to facilitate transition to adult services or higher education. In addition to a full academic program, Pathfinders’ students participate in vocational internships both within the community and within the school itself, to develop and practice those skills needed for future employment success. All Pathfinders classes extend learning beyond the classroom walls by participating in community-based activities.
*Master’s Degree in Special Education with current MA certification in moderate or severe special needs. Prefer MA certification in school administration.
*Five years experience with autistic population and demonstrated interpersonal, supervisory and administrative skills.
*CPR, CPI and First Aid certifications.
*Valid driver’s license.
Supervision Received: Reports to the Principal/Assistant Principal
Supervision Exercised: Supervises and evaluates all Head Teachers in the program
Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
1. Develops and implements Individual Education Programs (IEP) within the classroom/school and community settings.
2. Participates in the development of behavior intervention strategies and daily living-skill techniques for individual students and follows through on the strategies developed.
3. Implements student behavior programs: positive reinforcement, breaks, time outs, etc., as designed by the Behavior Department and the team.
4. Works with the Admissions Coordinator to complete tours and intakes.
5. Develops curriculum content, as needed, to implement each student’s goals and objectives, as written in his/her Individual Education Program.
6. Monitors health and safety of students.
7. Attends and facilitates classroom meetings and program meetings.
8. Completes daily paperwork for individual students: notes to parents, Incident Reports, Accident Reports, etc.
9. Review prepared lesson plans and make sure they are appropriate for all students in the classroom.
10. Conducts consistent classroom observations
11. Oversees development of classroom and school schedule that provides structure for the students and limits stimuli within the setting.
12. Establishes and maintains a good working relationship between the school and the student’s home. This may include: phone contact, notes to parents, parent visits, team meetings.
13. Participates in all trainings, as required by League School of Greater Boston.
14. Performs other related duties, as designated by the Assistant Principal/Principal, that are deemed necessary for the operation of the school, such as evening trainings, Open Houses, Parent/Teacher nights, etc.
15. Manages the Pathfinders budget.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word: Microsoft Excel: Microsoft Internet Explorer; Microsoft Office and Google Mail.
